Smell the Flowers

Oh my goodness, this little ogre from Beth Duff Designs's newest digital set Smell the Flowers has got to be the cutest dude!  I know, you think I'm partial because I am on Beth's creative team, but I genuinely love him.  All images of him. He has the sweetest expressions and the sentiments are great!

I created this card for the Simon Says Stamp Monday AND Wednesday Challenges!

I printed the image of the ogre and sentiment on kraft cardstock and colored with Prismacolor pencils.  I love how the colors really pop on the kraft!

For the background, I created an ombre look stenciling Mustard Seed Distress Ink through the Bold Flowers stencil from Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember 2013.  I overlay the background with an offset strip of vellum to soften the center.  Using the beautiful Tim Holtz Flower Garden stamp set, I stamped off a flower onto a scrap of ivory colored cardstock, carefully tearing the paper edges.  TIP:  Score the edges you want to tear first!  Then your tear will be pretty even and straight!  Yay!  I colored with flower with my pencils and layered onto the vellum panel.  I cut out the sentiment and thought it would be fun to have our sweet ogre standing right atop, adhered with foam tape.  For a bit of fun, I added enamel sticker Sprinkles from Doodlebug in the left corner.

This card just makes me smile!  The colors are soft and warm, and it screams spring!  Until next time, fairy friends.. xo
