The next Sketch Saturday challenge is open with Sketch #527 below. I admit, I was stumped at first how to work with this one, but that's what teams are for! Sweet Kel is a doll for helping me! (Thank you!) She encouraged me to see the elements on the left not necessarily as individual pieces, but as a design or patterned paper. I share this to help any of you that have the same struggle sometimes. The sketches are a guide, so don't be afraid to think outside the box a bit.
Now onto the card! I selected Snug but Stylish from sponsor The Paper Shelter; Christmas is around the corner and I thought this girl looked like she was patiently awaiting travel back home for the holidays. I used the colored image, adding digital paper behind her to mimic a soft, cool snowy evening.
The snowy patterned paper on the left blends into the scene, with pops of glittery snowflakes to accent. I thought a torn edge would be a fun textural element, and mirrored a tear on the bottom card panel. The sentiment banner and glittery candy cane were ephemera from my stash.
Christmas is still a few months away, but it doesn't hurt to start a wee stash of cards now. Goodness knows it will be here before I know it! Don't forget to join us at Sketch Saturday to play along!! Until next time.. stay snug!
