The Sweet November Vault is open for just another day at 7 Kids Crafting Supply Store. Amy, the Sweet November artist, is re-releasing three mermaid tots from several years ago that are truly just the sweetest. Those of you that follow me know I love to find creative ways to use these images. Well, today I tried something so fun!! I used two of the mermaids - Hanalei and Nalu - to make this fun shirt for my daughter!
I started by printing the mermaids onto HeatnBond's Inkjet Transfer Sheets. Crossing my fingers, I then Copic colored the mermaids. Surprisingly, it worked! But, as a note, the markers do not blend very well so you have to be mindful of that when coloring.
I fussy cut the mermaids and sentiment, leaving a narrow border as mentioned in directions for the transfer sheets.
Then I ironed them on! Yes, the shirt is a bit stained, but my daughter will surely continue to add her own flair as she wears it. The directions state to remove the backing paper when it is still hot. I do not recommend doing that; my image "smudged" when trying to pull the paper back when it was hot. I had the best success removing the backing paper AFTER it had cooled.
After bribery, L agreed to wear her new shirt. I maybe be biased, but I think she looks pretty mermazing!
