It is already time for the next BIG Kindred Stamps release!! And, it will not disappoint! I lucked out and received Trim the Hedges. It is a smaller set, but has so much potential! I made two cards for this release - a shaker and a Valentine's themed card. I think they are both so fun!
The coloring is fairly straight forward--three shades of green for the bush and three shades of cool grey (black being one of them). I added the shadows on the dude's face with C3, mostly, and blended out. A darker skin tone was used to mimic scares on his face.
For the shrug, I just stippled the color on (quick strokes and dots), adding the darker tones in the shadow areas just like I was blending it all together.
For the Valentine's themed card, I thought using the Simon Says Stamp Vented Heart die would be fun, with a sort of play on the scissors attached to our little guy. You know, cut vents, scissor fingers. :) I wanted to create an ombre background behind the heart, so I made light pencil marks on the card front where my vented heart overlapped, then scribbled on the color. I used R59, R29, and R14 - my favorite trio of reds! Next, I simply glued the front panel to the card front. I didn't want to create any shadow under the vents.
I decided to incorporate two of the sentiments on the card front, but wanted "Hold Me" to grab the eye first. So, I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of white cardstock and heat embossed. Then, using the middle and lighter red tones, I scribbled over my sentiment. After trimming the piece, I adhered with foam tape above the vented heart. The scissor handed fellow as also mounted on foam tape off center and the other sentiment was stamped on white and glued flat to the panel. The right side of the card seemed to need something, so I settled upon these gorgeous deep crimson sequins.
As I mentioned above, my second card was a shaker. I happen to have little leaf shaped sequins that made a shaker card the obvious choice. I scattered a few on the card front for fun effect and glued a few to the back of the shaker window so they wouldn't ALL fall to the bottom when the card was left upright.
I think it turned out pretty fun!!
