The August release for Kindred Stamps is almost here! I had the pleasure of working with Sea Friends, a set full of fun ocean creatures and sentiments. In fact, my daughter wanted to color up the images first! I think she did a great job! (She is 4 and LOVES to use my Copic markers.)
This set has the perfect sentiment for scrapbooking that first day of school! Or, in my case, as a surprise lunchbox note for my daughter's first day school! I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Heart Envelope die, double cutting the heart for the flap to make it sturdy. I only glued the base of the heart so the envelope flap could be slipped underneath to hold the envelope closed.
I did clear emboss little fish in the background and attempted to ink a wave through a stencil onto the background, but you can't see those details. I think since the background is both shiny and glittery, those elements were lost in the shuffle. The sandy ocean bottom was created by tearing a piece of kraft cardstock.
To give our clown fish some company, I added a couple shells to the sea floor. Then I simply stamped her name on a scrap of paper and glued to the front of the envelope and tucked in her lunchbox!
No surprise, she loved the note! "Because you love me, right?" Yes, sweets, because I love you. xo
For this ocean scene, I had purchased a new medium to play with and I LOVE the effect! The magical product is Liquitex Professional Gloss Gel, Medium. It is typically used with acrylic paints, but retains a glossy finish with brushstrokes and peaks. So when I stumbled across it on Amazon, I instantly thought OCEAN!! This card was supposed to be a gel shaker, like this, but I didn't have the right size bag to fit in the window and my Fuse tool didn't create a tight enough seal to retain the gel. Then I remembered buying this Gloss Gel and I am SO glad that I did! Look at that beautiful "wet" texture! I sprinkled in the confetti. It goes on a milky white but dries crystal clear. I promise, you need this in your stash! Just think of the possibilities!!
I watercolored the images for this scene, so the colors would be softer. I added a pop of coral to the scene for added eye candy. ;)

Thanks again for joining along! I'm sure you can think of so many fun uses for this set! There will be a digital image of a girl in braces available to anyone that purchases this set! Make sure to look for the companion shaker pack too when you are shopping on Friday; it has little fish sequins in it! Until next time, keep swimming! xo

Love the underwater theme. Your daughter did a fabulous job of coloring.
These are great, Marcia! And your daughter did a great job!!! I especially liked the little “first day of school” note. Little things like that are important to a child.
Love your work. Your daughter has great coloring skills. She’s gonna be like you :)
