A sweet older friend of mine lost her dear mother this week. I can't imagine the heartache that she and her family are experiencing, but I wanted to send a little hug her way to let her know she is in my thoughts. I wanted to make something simple and sweet that will hopefully bring a smile to her face. She is such an amazing woman! She would share the pictures and videos I would send of my crazy little girls with her mother, who always enjoyed the entertainment.
I had not yet played with Neat & Tangled's stamp set Better Together, and this occasion seemed to be the right time. Of the three figures, the one with the little girl hugging the owl plush reminded me of my girls. The sweet teddy bear needed to share in the fun too.
After stamping them with Brilliance black ink, I colored them with my Copic Ciao markers. Next, I smeared Nuvo's Embellishment Mousse in Lemon Sorbet with a spatula over the center of the card front. Man is this stuff dreamy -- so silky soft and amazing metallic like sheen! I didn't want to create a background with too much texture, but I will definitely play with the mousse in that capacity later!
I stamped the sentiment at the bottom multiple times (thanks MISTI!) since the ink wouldn't adhere to the mousse finish so well (whoops!). It still isn't as crisp as I would like, but in this case, I think it looks fine, without looking sloppy.
After die-cutting the images, I just had to finish the assembly! I glued the teddy down and popped up the little girl with foam tape for a bit of dimension. Viola! Done!
I tried to capture the sheen that the mousse creates on the card, but it is not that easy to do. I do hope she enjoys her hug!
