Today I have a pair of hot cocoa treat mug pockets featuring these adorable elves from Scrappy Boy's Nice List stamps and dies. The hot cocoa mugs were created using a free SVG from Bearly Art called Mug Gift Card Holder. (The download includes SVG, JPG, PNG, and PDF.) I modified the size to accommodate a standard hot cocoa mix. I colored these most adorable elves and their pal Rudolph with Spectrum Noir TriBlend alcohol markers and then cut out with the coordinating outline dies.
I did discover a slight flaw in the SVG design -- the bottom on the mug is rounded. The scored line to fold on the curve doesn't really work, so I worked around this by cutting the bottom flap into 4 pieces.
I was then able to better curve along the base of the mug, trimming the little extra bits at the end.
I also elected to cut the snowflake from the center of the mug's front. I backed the opening with a scrap of regular printer paper.
Then, I flipped over the cut out snowflake so the white side was showing and adhered to snowflake cut out portion, only gluing in the center. This gives a bit more dimension of the front, but you could either leave the snowflake portion completely open or simply back with paper to further enforce the front of the mug.
I am submitting this into the:
