".. but to one person you may be the world." Bill Wilson
If you have not found the Uptown Zodiac Girl collection from Stamping Bella yet, you are truly missing out. I am a big Stamping Bella fan; the images are just so beautifully illustrated and their rubber stamps create such clean, sharp stamp lines every time. (Thank you, rubber. lol)
For this card, I selected Uptown Zodiac Girl Aquarius (linked for purchase from Stamping Bella since it is out of stock at 7 Kids). I purchased the images from the Zodiac collection (from awesome 7 Kids Craft Supply Store) that could be used outside of just a zodiac birthday card, if that makes sense. I also wanted to experiment with no-line watercoloring, a new technique to me (and befitting this Uptown Girl since she is the water bearer, as someone pointed out). I stamped her with Antique Linen Distress Ink onto a scrap of Canson watercolor paper. Then, using a water brush with my Distress Markers, I colored up the image. To "de-scary" her black dot eyes, a dear friend Anne suggested adding a spot of white which made an amazing difference! I actually do this from time to time anyway; it really adds a great touch.
Isn't she just beautiful! The image is so soothing and yet refreshing. I had a mirrored card panel ready from another card and knew it would be perfect to accompany Aquarius, emulating waves in cool seafoam green and soft teal. I imagined her sitting upon a bed of sparkly sequins, and found the perfect match in my stash from Little Things from Lucy's Cards in Phosphorescence, a dreamy mix of hearts, stars, and sequins in the perfect color mix for this card. Then, it was time to select a sentiment. That is where I was stumped. I kept thinking I needed something to do with water, but nothing I had in my stash felt right. I then saw this quote in a large stamp set that was free with a magazine (Creative Stamping Magazine) that I purchased second hand. It was just right. I stamped in VersaMark ink and embossed with Hero Arts Platinum embossing powder (one of my favorites). I scattered her sea of sequins and called it a card.
I hope you love her too! She may be one of those cards I have to keep. I hope you'll give no-line coloring a try! I need to play with Copic no-line again, but I thoroughly enjoyed how therapeutic this process was. Until next time, lovelies.. xo
