I love silhouette images; there is so much you can do with them without too much effort. Today I am sharing a card I made using the newly released Nativity Silhouettes from Downland Crafts. The set consists of three smaller silhouette scenes, perfect for quick holiday cards or tags.
I started with the frame stamp, from a retired set and company Strawberry Jude Stamps, but any frame die or stamp would work. I embossed the frame in gold then stamped the silhouette into the frame using VersaFine Onyx black ink, carefully masking off the areas where the scene would have overlapped the frame. To add some twinkle to the stars, I inked only the stars with VersaMark embossing ink and embossed using gold glitter embossing powder. Then, I clear embossed over the entire scene. Thank goodness for the stamp platform! Next, I inked the scene using distress oxides in Fossilized Amber, Stormy Sky, and Black Soot for the sky, and Ground Espresso and Black Soot for the foreground. I used these brushes for my ink blending, using the smaller ones for more precise inking.
I fussy cut out the frame and layered on a lovely navy card trimmed to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" which I had previously added Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in gold through a lovely twinkly star stencil. The sentiment, from the same retired stamp set, was embossed on gold onto the lower right of the navy panel. I added gold mousse to the border of my top-folding card base and mounted the navy panel to the front. Isn't it just lovely? Until next time.. xo
